+1 for Starrett - I don't have much from them, but what I have is quality.

I do have a Hornady set as well from midway. No complaints for my intended usage. :)

I have several, some dial and some digital, several are high end. For the most part they all do the same thing...measure in .000ths. If I knew I was going to use them all day every day for the next 20 years I might be more inclined to buy a better set for durability only.

^ This - The ONLY reason I have anything Starrett is from when I worked in a pattern shop in High School.

For checking COL every so often - a $40 Hornady is totally fine. :)

Reloading you only need good to .001 which is about as precise as calipers are really good for . That said all my stuff is either Starett or Mitutoyo & ancient like me . I bought it when I was young & as I made a living with them I did not go cheap . I'm in my 70's & most of my tools have given good service for 50 + years . Ditto for my Dillon , RCBS & Redding reloading gear .

Starett is made in USA if your into that sort of thing. Mitutoyo is excellent quality. Either will last several lifetimes.
