Would someone, preferably an FFL holder, with absolute knowledge please weigh in.

It is legal for a Florida resident to buy a long gun from an Alabama FFL dealer.

Is it legal to conduct a private long gun sale between a resident of Florida and a resident of Alabama?

    Thanks!

This is just my personal experience, but I have purchased a long gun from an FFL in Florida, when I was an Alabama resident. This was in 2019.

Not a FFL holder, but my (correct) answers are above.

I bought an AR from a guy in Alabama several years ago. We met at a gun shop over there and did the transfer.
I called ATF before doing it to make sure it was legal.
I sold a rifle last year to an Alabama resident and we met at a gun shop here to do the paperwork.
He had to come back to pick it up because there’s a 3 day waiting period if you don’t have a Florida permit.

Also Alabama has no waiting period. I purchased a long gun in North GA Walmart. *Many Walmarts will not sell long guns to out of state residents. They say it's against the law its NOT! It may be a store policy but that is not the law.

I can take a long gun with me after purchase in MS and AL from an FFL.
as far as purchasing from and individual I think it would need to go through an FFL in AL to answer that part of your question if Little Jack's answer wasn't clear.
Hand guns and serialized parts would need to be shipped FFL to FFL in your home state unless the FFL in your home state will accept transfers from an individual....many don't.
