I like a thumb safety if it's in the correct place, swings the correct way, and is big enough to activate, but that's only because I love 1911s, and I like for all my guns to work the same. In reality though, the M&P has a heavy enough trigger that doesn't need it, but you're right, it would probably make Big Army happy.

I think the lack thereof is what has kept Glock from being adopted, which is fine by me. :)

Put a safety on a Glock and the shooting world (Glock Lovers) would cry for years and years.

Edit, I just saw that they do put a safety on some Glocks. Shows what I know about Glocks.

Not my first choice for a 1911, for several reasons, but hell yeah to the Colt 45! Plus, we're already $24,000,000 into it.

I don't know what Uncle Sam pays for them, but I bought my first Wilson for less than the $2k that these Colts are going for. Just Sayin'

The Glock is so much more rugged and can take so much more and keep shooting. Easy to clean if you think you must, I don't understand the dilemma.
