I have been contemplating the fact that one half of our society seems to approach things very differently than the other half. This is a deep divide, and worth considering. It seems that the liberals (or progressives, or leftists, or Democrats, or socialists, or whatever you want to call them) view the US Constitution as a “living, breathing document”, rather than something that must be followed as written. They sometimes propose laws or regulations that promote their point of view, but are confronted with the fact that the proposal is unconstitutional. Rather than accepting this, they just argue harder that regardless of the conflict with the Constitution, we should do it anyway. Conservatives, on the other hand, view the Constitution as a Divinely-inspired document that has lit the lamp of freedom throughout the world, and should be changed only with the greatest deliberation.
