wife was walking our small dog when a foot and a half thin snake brown with orange stripes long wise came from a water area and crossed her path really fast ,dog stepped right over it too ...no issues [bites]

corn snakes are orangish. i dont pay much attention to color. i look at the head. vipers have very pronounced A shaped heads.

Cant go by that, water snakes will flatten their heads to make themselves look threatening.

many color patterns, and they are fast... orange rat snakes tend to bow up at you if cornered... and they have splotches, not stripes..

rat snakes, corn snakes, chicken snakes, all basically the same patterns, just color and size differences..
