Hard to tell from those angles. I think it's too long and slender to be a mocassin.

Florida Green Water Snake most likely, could be a cotton mouth but its hard to tell with that dark footage. Shoot it, eat it. good in chili

My buddy said its either a Banded water snake or cottonmouth. If the eyes are slit pupils like a cats its a cottonmouth, it they are round like a humans then its a banded water snake whish is not poisonous. The boy knows his snakes Kinda looks like a cottonmouth the more I look at it. Shoot it.

I totally disagree. Occasionally the wrong snake shows up in the wrong place but they do more good than harm. I run up on a minimum of 3 rattlers a year, I mean up close and personal. I show respect and they don't want to mess with me. We go our separate ways. Black snakes, rats snakes and such are beneficial. I've never seen a rat on my property. That's the snakes, I guarantee you.

Here are some pics from earlier in the day. I had the 38 with some snake shot and was about to tag him but was afraid I would chip the tile at the edge of the pool.

Moc are thinner in the water. If you toss that sucker on the ground they flatten out real nice. That's what another guy said anyway

    Same water moccasin:

Notice how much broader he looks on land. Damn thing was hiding under my grandkids pool floaties. They had just left a few days before. He actually got himself completely airborn trying to strike me. I had my NAA 22mag loaded with snakeshot but I did not want to pick up all the lead from the bottom of the pool.

So I introduced him to my little friend...

I usually don't kill snakes as I had over 100 of them when I was a kid but I make exceptions for moccasins and pygmy rattlers.

Moccasins usually swim with their head out of the water and they have a band across their eyes.
It sure looked too slender in the water but does look thicker on land.
That's one snake that I hate.
