Taser in eye trumped Glock in armed Orlando confrontation
Incident began outside One Eyed Jack's sports bar
January 3, 2014|By Henry Pierson Curtis, Orlando Sentinel
An unusual injury followed a confrontation in downtown Orlando last month when police tried to disarm a man outside One Eyed Jack's sports bar, records show.

Rather than shoot Travis James Rodriguez for not dropping a Glock pistol on Dec. 8, a police officer used an electronic stun gun that delivers 50,000 volts through prongs tethered by tiny wires. One prong punctured Rodriguez's right eyeball as the Taser automatically discharged a five-second shock, according to Orlando police.

I guess he is now One-Eyed Travis.

I'd imagine the tazed goon would be much happier with the tazer option than being ventilated by a .40 S&W.

A taser prong to the eyeball is rough but I wonder if this guy realizes how lucky he is to be alive. 99 out of 100 times he would have been justifiably pumped full of lead. Amazing amount of restraint shown by the officers and I'm not so sure it was a good thing. Could have got someone killed. Don't take long to get a round off from a glock raised to chest level. Glad it worked out without a fatality though.
