I currently have a 2002 chevy 2500hd ext cab 4x4 that I’ve had since 2005. Its been paid off years ago and is very reliable even with over 220k miles. Its rated to tow 10,000 lbs as configured. Great truck only problem is mpg sucks. I get 11-12 in town and maybe 15ish unloaded. Towing it drops 8-10 depending on what and where.
The newer chevy 1500’s about 2015 and newer are rated to tow the same and also claim much better mileage when unloaded.
Question is: Although rated to tow the same weight will the old 2500hd tow the load easier, better, and safer than a newer 1500 series?
I know this isn’t a truck forum, but figured I’d give it a shot. I don’t tow heavy or many miles at all, but when I bought the truck the price was good and a equivilent year 1500 model truck got roughly the same mileage. Maybe only 1-2 mpg better. Just curious if all the new tech with electronics and sensors is worth it
