A 1 in 10" twist will stabilize the longer 175's better than a 1 in 12" . Many 30 cal guys chose 190 or 200's for 1K work . At 100yds a 1 in 12 " & screw the MK's ...they expensive . A Gameking FB will suffice & is cheaper . You're much closer to BR shooting than HiPower even @ 200yds . BR guys shoot FB not BT's as a BT don't mean squat 'til ya hit 500 . A good barrel , precision chambering & rest is relatively straightforward . Same with loads many new guys will shoot a throat out lookin' fer " da load " . FWIW a well setup 308 bolt can be made to shoot in the " twos " @ 100 . Won't get that off no rack though..............

I believe that the 1:10 will help to stabilize the SMK 168 as distances get longer. But the 1:11.25 is Optum for the 175 SMK and you may find that group size beyond 800 yards tends to get larger with a 1:10 Twist in barrels of 22 inches or more. Barrel length and twist rates are codependents. More spin equals more spin drift, mate the two for tighter group size. JMHO.

Now, to the point boatbum101 was making. When shooting at either the 100 or 200 yard KD ranges Flat based spire points tend to be more precise than boat tail projectiles. A flat based projectile has a longer bearing surface than a boat tail, and at close range they stabilize readily. The higher BC of boat tail projectiles really doesn't make much difference until 300 yards or more. If you don't or can't shoot at a 300 yard or longer KD range it may be more efficient to concentrate your efforts on ammunition other than M118LR. Not that it performs poorly at 100 & 200 yards, but for only short range shooting the beneficial characteristics of the 175 SMK are not being exercised to the fullest extent possible. But the cost savings on projectiles is smaller nowadays than it once was, sadly.
