Way the OP phrased it struck me as an indefinite loan of an exquisite rifle by a good friend kinda thing . No self-respecting rifle loonie could sell such an item . 'Twould be sacrilege , worthy of ex-communication , tar n feathering & burned at the stake in some places.......

I’ve learned to use the term permanent loan , I explain that it’s mine and they are using it . If they happen to still be using it when I’m deceased then and only then ownership will transfer to them. I decided to make that stipulation when I bought back a pristine model 61 Winchester from the local pawn shop . The young man’s mother I had loaned it had pawned it , he wasn’t of a legal age and I had her take possession of it till he turned 18. He’s a good kid and had work for me around the farm during the summer break and weekends. I think a lot of him , but not so much of his family.

This imho is like some one giving you a ferrari , of course take it then sell it and with the profit buy a corvette because its fast enough for your needs and comes without the special service the ferrari needs . Sell the weatherby ,buy a quality 243 rifle/scope which will kill varmint/deer just as deader as roy's magnum can .
Yes, I could take it, tell him it works for me fine, then sell it. It would be a shit thing to do, as the guy is offering to give me one of the rifles out of his collection in the hopes that it works out for me. He's basically sharing his love of the Weatherby line by gifting a very nice rifle and optic to someone who otherwise would never buy one because of price. Has the thought crossed my mind, yeah, but this guy is pretty damned awesome, and honestly if I take it, go to the range, and fire off a few rounds only to realize it won't work for me, I'll be up front and honest with him and give it back.
It's rare to have a customer who appreciates work you've done enough to just give you something with that kind of value (both monetary and sentimental as this guy is a very avid Weatherby collector)

:oops:new unprimed brass for that puppy is $65.00 for 20 cases

even better...a F/L bushing die if it is available

Finding the dies isn't hard, found both FL and Neck sizing dies pretty easily online, Redding and RCBS. The brass... well I'll just have to keep every piece of brass from the factory ammo and hope for the best. May end up with enough factory ammo that I don't need to reload for a while as long as performance is there. The 72gr Hammers are supposedly great on whitetail.
