...still, it'd be a matter of actually spotting it at night time and then risking a too-loud shot. Maybe I need to hire Daezee :p

You could just cut its head off with a shovel as it comes under fence

Those aren’t as loud as a 22 air gun, if someone hears it they’ll never know what it was .

sure, if I stand there all night waiting for him o_O
Well, yeah. I've done it. Bagged 20+ desert rats stealing my candy bars in one night, sitting on an embark box in my PT shorts and nothing else, with NVG's and a Buck knife. Good times. I was running out of Baby Ruth's on top of a mountain... it was worth the effort

Spray the yard with insecticides and water in. Kill the grubs, no food and they won't have around. If you kill the armadillos clean them and eat the backstraps. Kinda like a fine pork chop.

Proceed with xtreme caution...I hear they may be carriers of Leprosy!

I have some cci quiet .22 but have never fired any. I live where houses are very close together, and the area it dug under my gate is no more than 10' from another house, so am not

It helps keep property taxes down too. ;)

Lol. I can get them anytime. To be afraid to try something new. They don't eat trash, they eat grubs and worms.

Feel free to do as you please and eat all you want. I won't respond to your 'afraid' comment, but I'll pass on adding them to my menu. My purpose for starting this thread was to get suggestions for getting them to stay off my property, dead or alive, and I've received some good ideas...let's stick to that topic if there is anything more to add, ok?

You probably have a whole family of them living around you. It may be a good time to go ahead and bury some chain link along the bottom of your fence all the way around so as to stop the whole family of dillos. Establish a perimeter. If you find one inside the wire after that than you know he's trapped and going to starve or thirst to death anyways

Saw signs of digging in my yard and under fence. Neighbor described a similar situation. I placed a trail cam and recorded an armadillo digging under my fence around 5:30 this AM. Any ideas on how to get rid of it/them? I live in a subdivision, so shooting is not a good option (I have no suppressors). I've read they don't really go for poison. It's a fairly wide open area, and it came from both directions, so it seems like trapping would be hit or miss...but might be the best way. Does anyone here have trap(s) I could rent or borrow? If I caught one what do I do with it? Just kill it in the trap & dispose? I really don't want to fool with relocating it/them. Any ideas? There are wildlife control companies in the area, but I thought I'd ask here first. TIA

edited to add...not that it matters much, but I was wrong on the time (read time from wrong video), He dug under my front gate and left at 12:56AM and returned at 1:50AM. Seems he might be nesting somewhere on my property.
The Armadillos are there for the grubs in the lawn. Lawn insecticide to kill the grubs and the Dillos will move on.

All I did the last time was to spread fire ant and insect granules over the entire yard and especially where they were digging thru...gone in a week or so!

The big container of cayenne pepper from sam's did the trick for me.
This will work as well, but when the pepper wears away, the grubs are still there and the dillos will return.
Insecticide, kills the bugs and grubs. Nothing for the dillo to dig for.
