Actually, the vast majority of Haitians are coming in illegally, but are then eligible for "Temporary (actually permanent) Protected Status" because they built a third-world shithole society... nothing more than a scam. Hell, how many recent articles do you want to see featuring Haitians that still own slaves? Some even inside the U.S.?No, it means he didn't have a driver's license. The official term IIRC is "undocumented" for people who came in illegally and without inspection, but because I believe the Haitians are here under some form of program that doesn't apply.

Of course, the eligibility requirements for TPS are very stringent, and strictly enforced. For one, Haitians would have to have lived continuously in the U.S. since... get this... AUGUST 4th, 2024! As long as they entered illegally a whole month ago, they're in! Very stringent!
Another "strictly enforced" requirement? You must:
"Be a national of a country designated for TPS, or a person without nationality who last habitually resided in the designated country"
From an article re: the Haitian driver who killed the student in the accident:
"Joseph testified he has temporary protected status and did not get an Ohio driver’s license because he did not have the necessary documents.
The man said he was born in Haiti and has a spouse and four children. He said he left Haiti in 2014, traveling to Brazil, then Chile, then to Mexico in 2022, where he obtained a Mexican driver’s license. Joseph said he arrived in Texas (ILLEGALLY), flew to Ohio (NO DOUBT ON A U.S. TAXPAYER-FUNDED FLIGHT) and settled in Springfield."
So he did NOT "last habitually reside in the designated country". He left Haiti in 2014, and has since "habitually resided" in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. So what exactly did he need "protection" from? Looks more like we failed to protect an American child from him. Welcome to the "immigration" shit-show.

Similar to the game they played with the Cubans under the "Cuban Adjustment Act": As long as they could prove that they were sophisticated enough to break the law for a certain period of time (1-2 years) by living illegally in the U.S., they were rewarded with permanent residence.
