Perhaps Chicago needs some even tougher gun laws.

By early December of last year, the Chicago Police Department had confiscated 6,521 illegal guns in 2015. That total meant the department was seizing about 19 guns a day — or about one gun every 74 minutes. For the city’s police department, the remarkable haul wasn’t unusual. In 2014, it recovered 6,429.

How many were criminals were prosecuted? How many of them spent more than one day in jail.

And what a HUGE surprise, not an assault rifle in the bunch!!

Aside from the obvious BS call on the comment about the large number of these guns being purchased in states where no background check is required for internet gun sales or at gun shows, I would really love to know how they came up with the figure that 60 % of the guns they recovered came from those states, since there is no national registry for firearms. FFLs are required to respond to ATF requests regarding firearms that have been utilized in a crime, but this consists of an email from them with a serial number of the firearm & a request for information if you were the dealer who sold the weapon. Are we to believe they sent an email for each of the weapons confiscated to every dealer in the States that bound Illinois & they obtained a positive response on at least 60% of those requests? Sorry I'm calling Bullshit!
