Is this a Chinese contract variant? I see Chinese characters on the top of the receiver. Do you have a picture of the right side??

Good Question. It is not the Chinese contract variant. It was manufactured by Mauser for the Asian market which is where the "Bolo" designation comes from. I've not compared versions but I'm told the difference is in the length/size of the pistol grip, Bolo being the smaller of the two. I put up a picture of the other side on the original post, as you can see it states the following: "Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf A-Neckar", it basically means the weapon was produced in the Mauser factory on the Neckar River. The Chinese idiographs translate to "Made in Germany". Hope that answers your question...Mauser Rt.jpg
