Recently picked up another .357, and I’m pretty much on a “one in one out” basis right now, so this one is up for grabs. Made in 1981 based on the serial, this is the early run 686 series before the -x started, also pre-lock just as you see. The stainless is not a full polish but has a really good look to it. Naturally you’ll see some scratches and wear, but overall this is in exceptional condition and shoots unbelievably well. Both DA and SA are excellent, lockup is good, and the trigger pull in both modes is amazing. Much better trigger than the Python or Ruger out of the box.

Not really interested in trades, looking to recoup some funds for other projects and bills.

PM me for details or offers.

More photos. Comes in the original box that still has all the paperwork and factory info in it!

I found this on a S&W forum. Do you know if the work has been done? Thanks

*Note that the 686 no dash model had a recall. If the recall work was done there will be an M stamped in the yoke area of the frame.

Not sure to be honest, that’s the first I’ve heard of that. I will have to take a look when I get home. What was the recall for?

I’ve had plenty of the no dashes without the m stamping, never had any issues with any of them. The m stamp would be below the serial number or next to the model number on the crane/yoke

The issue with the 686 no dash was that the firing pin would pierce the primer on SOME ammo but not all, causing blowback, collectors prefer the no dash model vs the modified and has a bit more value. I have several no dash models and have put thousands of round through each with not a single burp. This is what I found doing research. I echo what smith 586 posted.
