I was shooting my colt 1911 today with cast 230 gr tc bullets. I was shooting at an old skillet hanging off the target frame. 10 yards. On the third shot i get hit in the leg and a piece hits my truck with a ricochet after i shoot. First time thats ever happened and i shoot skillets and stuff like that all the time. This is the two pieces that came back and my leg where it hit.

Bullets do strange things. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable shooting at non-flat metal targets. Look up on youtube for people shooting tracers during winter time. Those things go in all kinds of directions.

    10 yds? really!!!!????
I dont feel safe even shooting random steel with .22 at 25 yards.
Steel targets need to have a flat face, and set so they are angled slightly foreward - so that all lead goes into the ground.
Glad you didnt shoot your eye out :)

The skillet is acting like a sharp charge, you can see where it followed the shape of the pan. , I have trouble when people shoot in too my Pistol steel and make crater;s in it, If a bullet hit it, it will come back to you, if you shoot at a angle it will it will go where you don't want it to. Just some of my 5 cents jj

The only reason i was that close was i figured it would shoot right through like it always has. I guess two pieces sheared off as it went through and skidded down the pan and came back at me. Im already covered in scars from "riding" dirtbikes and being a general daredevil dumbass redneck when i was younger. This wont scar but it wouldve took out an eye. My shins all bruised up this morning. Glad it didnt hit this beautiful face of mine!!
