I hink the problem is twofold,
For one, the politicians don't actually care or worry about what happens to us. It doesn't matter if gun free zones increase or decrease the likleyhood of these types of attacks, if change doesn't fit the political agenda they don't care.
Next, there is the problem that the majority of people(from all parties), get thier science/religion/math/foreign policy outlooks from politicians via fox/cnn/talk radio/blogs.

So until people start thinking for themselves, And our elected officials start representing their voting public, the only changes we will see are part of vast political agendas, designed to make people(who don't actuall participate in the same world we do) lots of money.

Not only was this kid and idiot...he carried in his back pack some clear bags filled with Vaseline...his intent was to kill the folks on his list....pull a three stooges act by smearing the Vaseline on the floor so first responder police would then 'slip and slide' then he would take thier guns and continue his mayhem....he must have watched too many TV reruns of Laurel & Hardy/Stooges etc...
