    Here you go, Army.

That would make too much sense lol. The FNP-USG was designed and almost adopted for military use. The FNX is a superior sidearm. Some of the FNP .45s had tolerance issues and didn't like out of spec ammo like Winchester white box (the one I had ate everything). I think that has been corrected in the FNX.

Florida State Troopers went from the Beretta 9mm to the Beretta 40 cal to Glock that shoots 45 Gap. One problem with the Gap 45 round is it's very expensive. But expense is not an issue for the Federal Govt. because they can print more $$$. States can't!-:)

Military is most likely looking for external safety features, simplicity, ease of use, durability, and cost. Glock has a lot of those features but not all. They are also looking for a larger round than the 9mm.

I think if they issued boxing gloves to all the generals and put them in the ring wars would soon be over and they would all play nicely.

    Um..No. Lol.

Glocks could pretty much be the epitome of combat handguns. Striker fired, easy to maintain, easy to clean, durable, a multitude of caliber offerings, high capacity, easily modifiable, reasonably priced. It helps that they're pretty much the Kalashnikov of the handgun world - they just work, under just about any conditions.

But like you said, thumb safety requirement. The FN you posted earlier is a solid choice too.

Springfield XDM has the external safety and is very much like the Glock.....

With the adjustable backstraps, easy to fit to the user - non-Gen 4 Glocks do not fit a lot of users.

Were I a soldier, I'd be happy to carry my 1911 if I were afforded the luxury. The .45acp is the epitomy of "got it right the first time."

XDM45 would be alright. Much cheaper than the FNX too.
I haven't shot my FNX, but I like 1911s. A solid double stack 1911 would be ideal, just can't seem to find a good one.

I believe para ord was the first with double stack 1911, are they not good ? I think most companies make them now also, I don't remember ever shooting one, I just didn't like the big grip on the allready heavy 1911. I guess I might could get used to it ?
