I just had a new exhaust installed on my TA and now have the factory kit in my garage.
Before I trash it, are catalytic converters actually worth anything as scrap? If so, where do I sell them?
I wasn't on any EPA laws just throwing them away....

There is platinum in the beads but not that easy to extract. Yes, the cats are worth some money. Hell, not long ago they were running around with cordless reciprocating saws stealing them out of driveways.

Call around and see who is paying the most, I use Southern scrap on palafox, some times their rates are a little less but there's usually little or no wait, scrap the rest of the exhaust while your there

Well, all of you were right on! The cats are worth $60 a piece.
The only problem now is at Wise Recycling (only scrap yard that buys them local) says in order to sell them you have to be a business owner, vendor/dealer or have receipts showing you purchased new catalytic converters. It's laws that steamed from people stealing them off cars (JohnAL) .
Funny all the laws implemented due to idiots and thieves....

    Oops.

They just passed a new law over here preventing the scrap yards from buying air conditioner units from anyone that did not have a licensed AC business for the same reason. You can probably find a muffler shop that will give you about 1/2 value for it.
