If you do your research those are the factory grips.
I'm no expert. However, there are experts on this forum. I didn't have to do much research to find that these grips are the originals. But later there were grip options available. The ones you have on may have the S&W logo on them but they came after these. I think these are the grips the member in thread #6 refer to. GLWS :)

It all depends on year on manufacture, and other variable reasons as well. I have a 87 lew Horton classic hunter that came from the factory with hogue mono grips. I’m sure those are the originals since it’s a later production target revolver and bc it has the full underlug.

Well you did start off asking a K for something in my mind that even if pristine & with all the factory original stuff wouldn't touch a K .
Asking that at least have clear detailed pics so a buyer can really evaluate . Never mind that it's an ex-LE & has Hogue rubber grips , has a pretty good score line on cylinder so she's been around the block . The dash 5's were sought by some for NRA DR & PPC service pistol as they're muzzle heavy they hold well on target .
IF I were looking I'd be more concerned with timing , lockup , forcing cone / bore as it could be a shooter . I'm sure that others would like a better look & judging by traffic some interest . GLWS
P.S. FWIW I was a long time member of SWCA . If you like Smiths the 2 best books you'll ever buy are the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Jim Supica & Kuhnhausen's Repair Manual on S&W Revolvers , about a C-note for both . Both are considered the definative reference book to have . Pics are a '93 vintage 14-5 BJS ser # , it came with pictured K frame factory combat grips . As these sell for around $ 300 - 250 a pair , like the early N frame " Cokes " a bunch are sold off seperate .

I'm going to get in on this, that is the right grip for the Model I know I have one , also and have the org. box that it came , when I was working for the state I got the pistol team up and going did all the paper work to get the pistols , had to get from Walter Graig was the factory dist. for them, They all came with the hoge grip with the S&W logo on them ., Just my 50 cents jj

Thanks for the accurate info ONESHOT. I didn't think my research was flawed. If I'm correct these grips where only a 1 year thing.

Nice revolver. I know I’m blind but where is the S&W logo on the grip?

Since everyone seems to be concerned about the lack of factory grips on this beauty, I have an almost mint set of S&W factory target grips that I’d sell to the buyer for $200. That way you get this S&W with the factory target grips that it deserves. And $40 more, and I’ll include an original early S&W blue box for it. That will get you a pretty S&W 14 with “original grips and box” for under $1g…

So does that make it a police trade in? I can plainly see the grips have the Hogue logo, but no S&W logo. If they were factory installed they would have both. You might take Grits1/5 advise and make the correct presentation. Both answers can be correct. Hogue with S&W logo for government grip, cocobolo presentation for commercial use.

The BPD 2426 stamped on the frame in OP's last pic . The 14-5 I had came with the K frame Combat grips & had a BJS prefix on S/N as posted in # 10 on this thread . I have seen later model S&W 's come with Houge rubber grips . I collected S&W revolvers long enough to say never say never . Them cheapass yankees don't throw shit away . I've never seen a 14-5 with regular K frame targets either , dash 4 & earlier yeah . As far as original if it didn't come with the gun from the factory it aint original . Some think having a period correct box / grips adds value but most serious collectors don't .
