It depends on who defines their mission! IMO, the CIA has caused a lot of our domestic problems by backing the wrong foreign actors. *Case in point MS-13 got to where they are now thanks to the CIA back in the early to mid-80's in Latin America. This has been a train wreck that our country's domestic law enforcement has been dealing with for years! There are many other examples of their poor tactical choices due to the winds of politics. They are one of the few agencies that are never held accountable for their actions! Just my .02 worth based on my life experiences!

The US has been around for almost 250 years during all those years we have had government spies doing what they do covert , i am sure there were muck ups but we still are in the top world power club .

That sounds very accurate to me ! Remember what happened to
Pres' Kennedy ? I always thought it was a complete setup ! Why did Johnson say " I'll be president very soon " It has CIA written all over it ! Then Jack Ruby says from jail " If you ever knew what really happened , you wouldn't believe it " .
