What year is your silverado? Is it regular cab? Thats really good mileage for our motor. Stock tires? 4 or 6 speed?
What it says and what it's actually getting are 2 different things. Hand calculate your fuel by using the tenth on the mileage and the thousandths on the pump. I can make my Cummins read 28 on the highway and I've had it as high as 23 in town. Never calculates correctly. This is about 110 miles into this tank of gas. I just put a K&n air filter in a couple of days ago. Yeah that says 24 miles to a gallon.

Not sure about towing, but if you're more concerned with the mileage, change your running gears out to the 3.73. or maybe 3.83. I have a silverado 6.0 4x4 with 3.73 gears and get 18 and nearly 20 on interstate, mostly 14.8 in town.
Also have a 4x4 s-10 running .411 gears getting 25 on interstate at 70mph. Had the 5th gear changed to a high hiway gear and it cadillacs in 5th. All other gears whine, looking for a higher gear, but when I hit 5th, it's like the rpms drop 1/2 and never whines for another gear.

It's accurate, I've checked it multiple times. Not sure what your deal is, but the new trucks get great mileage it's not really debatable. What it says and what it's actually getting are 2 different things. Is yours a 2500 or a vortec max? In town numbers are good but you will never see 18 or 20 out of a 3/4 ton 6.0
Zeroed in.
Ok. Makes since. Your truck is a little lighter than mine and I have the 4l80e which is also heavier and takes more power to turn. What is the 6.5 air handler? Are you talking about the turbo system?
2005 Silverado 2wd 5.3L 6.5inch lift on 35x12.50R17
K&N cold air intake
Bully dog tuner set to regular fuel economy
I average 18mpg which is better than the 12mpg I got before the upgrades.
