Well Known Nuisance
Really digging that stock, nice. What's the weight on that? Lighter than an a2?

Dont know about lighter weight, havent handled a real a2 much. But the profile is growing on me fast. And the lop is right where I normally run a collapsable stock and this fixed stock is definitely more secure/rigid feeling. So the only thing I am really missing out on is collapsing the stock for transport/storage. But I can’t see it being that big of a dealReally digging that stock, nice. What's the weight on that? Headed to the range tomm. Will be shooting at 3 Brothers in Stapleton,al. Be there around 10. Taking 224v ( setting 0 @ 200 yds) C308 with 3x prism sight, x39 side charger with my optics experiment 2.5x prism with 3x magnifier and fawty cal carbine with 3x9 scope. Feel free to meet me there, bring any old dusty ammo and we'll shoot it up. I'll be there for several hours.
Took my toys out to play. C308, Ct40 carbine, x39 side charger, 224V. Tried several flavors of ammo. Set the 3x,2.5x and 3x9 scopes.
If you are using red dots, throw them away. Get the etched prism types. I've been a fan of red dots for years, they work but the prisim types are 100% better, work's with no batteries. Better adjustment too.
Shot the .40 carbine for fun using the 9x scope. Shooting 165 gr win white box fmj also umc 180 gr. At 50 yards. Rounds touching. Very pleased. Ambi contols and forward charging.
X39 sidecharger. Lubed it up and shot the hell out of it. 3 primer hits that did not go off out of 140 rds. Those were bad rounds, not light strikes. Tried several brands of ammo, all fed and hit where they were supposed to. @50. My optic experiment worked. But to get it on target I had to adjust the 3x magnifier backwards. If i needed to go left i had to adjust it right. Bizarre. It can be set for longer range, 50 on 2.5 - flip the 3x on at 100.....ha! Love it when a plan comes together. Used 3 mags gi 20(5rds) dura and pro mag. ( mr fred mag on right No mag issues. Dura has a stronger spring. I did install 4oz buffer (spikes) ran fine, carbine spring, stock sig lower. Mag dumped to really see how it worked. Some cases actually had rust on them, no matter.
C308 greased it up per Sawmans suggestion, ran like a swiss watch. That will be the regiment from now on. Now if I can just count shots I'll be good. Set the 3x @100 on target 4 inch circle all day. Using wolf fmj for sighting then switched to 165 gr tula sp. Really good ammo. Glad cause I bought 1000 of em. I took the factory chevron brake off and put a birdcage on. Might need to look into something to tame some of the kick. Spent case showing flutes on chamber. A Battle Rifle made for steel ammo. Triggers really not bad.
The 224V what's to say, it's more accurate than I am. 0 at 200 now. 3 inch circle. Shot 75gr and 90gr, both accurate. 18x scope. Need a non Rambo mag. (25 rd) If I can get a yote or other pest in front of it, its gone.
Had the opportunity to shoot in the rain, not sprinkle, misty stuff a real downpour 308,x39 on target. 224V nope. Probably because of the lighter weight maybe? Mental note, if heavy rain is in the forecast use the bigger gun.
Fun day, wish some of yall would have come out.
Always a pleasure Rebel. I’m glad you were able to put together another fine piece. You’re always welcome in my home.Did some trading with Jpyritz. Dug around in the parts bin and built a pistol. May change a few things then paint it. Thanks Joe!!
Try saunders armory, good prices. Sometimes have a sale on bolts. Key on the x39 is to not get one that was a 556 and they ground it out to fit the x39. Company's do it. You can tell by the thickness of the lip. Should be the same thickness as a standard bolt.Ordered a decent backup bolt assembly in 7.62x39 from brownels. Shipping was only $5 and it was on sale for 10$ off. I wanted to buy a backup 6.5 G bolt from alexander arms and they wanted quite a bit. i was just only going to buy a spare extractor and they wanted $14 for the shipping; I canceled the order.
Hey James, I have a DR walk behind brush cutter if that would help cut smaller places that the tractor cannot get to.
PERFECT for walking trails. Cuts 26 inches. Perfect for down and back. Leaves you a 52" path. Also have used to to open up small openings for feeders, salt and mineral licks, and a place for a small pop up blinds. --- SAWMAN
ADDED: GREAT that you got in the club you wanted. Hope that I don't regret getting out of mine.
