Another plus for having double bbls with double hammers - -> with chambers loaded, the action does not have to be cocked.
Much easier to open action without having to fight the action.
For me - -> less complecated to "pick your bbl",also. ---- SAWMAN
AND: The hammers AND the triggers are actuated by quite strong COIL SPRINGS. First gun I have ever even like this.

Cleaned up very well. 4.25 inch barrel. Cycled ball and hp's thru it by hand. Steel frame and slide. Still can't figure out the model.

    *** Found it - IX-A Compact (i think)

Bought some stuff for projects. It's suprising how little 1911 parts gun stores carry. Like mags.... I was shocked, is the 1911 not "a thing" now?? There was 10-50x amount of glock, sig, etc do-dad, pimping parts. I guess that's what sells and for a store that's what pays the rent. Luckly ebay is awash with 1911 parts.

The 1911 is still a thing, just not for LEO or most active or former military anymore. Could also be because everybody has bought up the 1911 stuff and it's more of a thing than the Sig or Glock, but I doubt it. Like 99% of the 1911 pro's are retiring from the front line. The 9mm wonder-nine replaced the 1911 as a GP issue like what 35 years ago. I should have never sold my sporterized WW2 Colt. It was my only reliable 1911 out of several I've owned. I'm convinced that had a double stack 1911 been commercially widely available in the early 1980's then we'd all been issued them instead of M9's for the last 30+ years.
For the thread... what did I do today? I bought a fully functional 223 rifle that is sub 5 pounds for like only $150! Of course, that's after taking away for the value of the other stuff I bought with it. Outstanding! The catch? There's no magazine, mag well, bolt, bolt carrier group, gas system, pistol grip, battery, optic or rail of any kind on it! ;)

RR, every one under the age of 35 knows the 1911 is obsolete , and 45 ACP is so old and weak that it won’t stop a criminal any more. ;);)

Unfortunately fixed, maybe a different stock can fix it?

Yeah, the rear being ahead of the bolt.
A high caliber modern bolt gun with iron sights is getting rare nowadays. Yep, I'll be interested in one of these. The blind box mag carries better in the hand, granted, but I sure wish it took AR10 mags. It's not really a true scout rifle without a detachable mag. Still quite serviceable though. Americans, Russians and Germans whipped each others ass for most of the last century with rifles equipped with nondetachable mags. I'll take a look if and when you want to sell it.
For the thread, what did I do today? I watched a good firearms safety training video for free on YouTube. "The Four Feathers". Most everybody here has known that Carlos Hathcock (the Vietnam era Marine Corps scout sniper) was nicknamed "White Feather", in honor of his white feather in his hat supposedly, thumbing his nose at the need for camouflage. Honorable. But it seems the white feather was not always so honorable. According to this movie set in 19th century British army warfare, the white feather was a symbol of downright cowardice. Weird British thing. I wonder what they think nowadays.

    Sized 251 .45-70 cases

They cleaned up nice in the ss pins

found 1 Hornady in the mix and discarded it and found 1 new R-P case. I trim them all in a day or so then I might load a few.

Replaced the recoil pad on my 686...came out pretty good...I might get good at it one day.

Rescued some Norma brass that I fired too hot in my 6.5WSM...well I annealed them got the shoulders pushed back and the necks trimmed a little...if it turns out they aren't any good for loading... I can always make an OAL case gauge out of one to see how close to the lands I am after I fire it.

Powder and primers aren't as much problem as bullets. I have 4-5# of 3031 and a big jug of each of the 4198 & 4985.

I do have some hard cast 405s but have been trying to trade those for anything. I have plenty of those loaded
