Their track record of blowing up rifles is well established... that's enough for me to never put that ammo in my rifle... but you do you.

I've not read any issues concerning pistol ammo from FM but rifle... it's a known problem.
If one is careless with the powder being loaded, kabooms can happen. Pistol powder in a rifle equals big kaboom. Rifle powder in a pistol equals squib load at worst.

Lately there has been a problem with Turkish 7.62x51 kabooming rifles"

ZSR Ammo Officially RECALLS 7.62x51 Lot 15

We all hope ZSR fixes the problem.

Freedom Munitions (ironically I was wearing one of their shirts today). I agree on the high pressure stuff. I've also shot 1000's of the lower pressure pistol rounds, mainly 380 and 9x19mm. No issues. But I am a little touchy on stuff like .223 or .308.

I get all my range stuff from freedom munitions online. You can get on their email list and they have frequent sales with 5$ shipping with any purchase of 200$ or more. They have factory re-manufactured rounds for the low low, and I’ve never had a problem with em.

+++1 on Freedom Munitions. Their in-house loads often use Hornady or other more premium bullets, and they sell both range and defensive ammo at exceptionally good prices. I run almost exclusively their 124 grain 9mm for training, and 62 grain .223 in my SBR (when it’s not green tip). I’ve tried a lot of different calibers including their 38 special and they all run flawlessly.

Otherwise watch for specials on Recoil Gunworks, Classic Firearms, Optics Planet or Midway USA online. They’ll each randomly have really good pricing on rifle or shotgun loads depending on the brand and series.

If you are interested in competition loads and don’t want to reload, I have had very good luck with NC Shooters Supply. Jeff is a great guy and produces a great product. The only issue I had is one Shadow 2 barrel was a little too tight for their 147 loads. Switched to the 125's and good to go.

Anyone run much of the AAC stuff? I've filled in with some of their pistol rounds, as well as some 300 blackout subs, but that's about it so far. I just picked up some Sabre .308 really cheap to try, but haven't shot any yet?

I've always wanted to try some of the AAC. Heard some decent things

Side note, does anyone set up group buys here? That subforum seems really dead so I was wo dering if anyone still does splits for ammo from ammo seek?

I use Ammoseek and am on SGammo’s mailing list for bulk deals. I have enough stockpiled to wait for sales. I seldom ever buy less than 1k of anything at a time. Sounds gross of me to say, but I don’t support local businesses. Not at the markup, no way. I don’t know these people so I’m not giving them more money than I have to just so they can exist. And I have to use my gas to go get a case myself? Not when I can get it dropped off at my door for cheaper.

I wanna support them but consumers are getting absolutely fleeced with ammo prices. 60cpr to 65cpr round with taxes for 556 vs 45cpr online? Absolutely not

I used 390 rounds of the 77 grain yesterday for the first time. No precision work, just some speed training with a 12.5. No malfunctions to speak of.

I’d support if it was mutual support. But it’s not so hell naw. If it came down to it and I needed something quick, I’d support a small shop vs Academy or the like. But even then, I’d still compare prices. I’ve maybe bought local ammo once in the last 15 years. I remember when communist ammo was sub $0.10 a round so anything above that is still hard for me to stomach.

Monarch RN in 9mm brass/steel 50/250 packs and 556 50 packs is the only reason I buy ammo at Academy. Good prices for rebranded Magtech, especially 9mm. Less so for the 556

I have a KP9 that I’ve ran thousands of rounds through. It makes trips to the range a lot more bearable. Magtech started making steel cased 9mm, $219 shipped for 1K. Reminiscent of the days before tons of AR guys switching to AKs during Covid.

I’m just starting to get into ARs and I managed to mind Winchester white box 556 for 38cpr at the gun show. I was very pleasantly surprised there was something worth buying there at all lol
