OK, now that the thread has morphed into a high end scope review, has anybody tried the Leica PRS 5-30x56? Or the Zeiss LRP S5 5-25x56? Inquiring minds want to know. :D
Don't forget about the Japanese. Some of their stuff is pretty good. But I agree, generally Germany or Austria make the best. JMO. So many folks get all wrapped up in the rifle and buy glass with whatever money they have left. I believe this is flawed logic. For the most part, rifles these days...
Pretty sure that's the pill in the MK262, which is one of the most consistently accurate 5.56 rounds I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. Even compared to my handloads. The danged things really go into the same hole.
I have whacked literally thousands of Prairie Dogs out to about 525 yards with my bolt action .223. It's hard to shoot anything else between 200 and 500... Not sure where the mojo went in the marketplace. It's a great rig for sure.
The pressure increase comes when the same amount of propellant used in lighter brass is used in heavier brass. As a safety conscious reloader I always weigh my brass. Sometimes I even weigh loaded rounds just to make sure I didn't make a booboo.
Sometimes military brass is heavier (thicker) than civilian brass which reduces the available volume for propellent inside and can create higher pressures in certain chambers. It sounds like those rounds had higher pressure, which could be caused by several variables. Bottom line: If the cases...
Just make the jump to Barnes. No bonding needed. It's 100% copper alloy in the TSX, add a plastic tip in the TTSX. Great penetration, perfect mushroom to twice caliber. They are one of my favorite hunting bullets. ABs are good, but they tend to separate in my experience. SGK flies great, but...
Excellent condition AAC 300 Blackout based on Remington Model Seven action. 16" barrel, threaded 5/8x24 for suppressor, adjustable cheek piece, composite stock, great trigger, 20MOA picatinny rail. Pretty sure twist is 1:7. No scope or rings. Super quiet and accurate rifle when shooting...
I believe 1/4 MOA is an unrealistic expectation for the vast majority of shooters, regardless of the rig and ammo used. In my experience, to achieve that pinnacle of accuracy everything has to be near perfect, including technique, which is the last thing most shooters realize. JMO.
The Partition is a great hunting bullet. Not the most accurate for precision shooting, but the terminal ballistics are excellent. You won't be disappointed if you use it for whitetails. I have used them from .224 up to .358 across the spectrum. Always satisfied. However... my favorite hunting...
