Most electronics have a key slot under them, right or not? I would not buy one without that option

I’ve done that, too. For the combos to the safes. Encoded.
    Same for WiFi passwords, etc.

The problem, coming soon to a SpyPhone near you, is the fact that your photos may soon no longer be “private”. Not talking about 3-letter agency under-the-table stuff, either. It’s public knowledge next iOS update ”for the children” scanning of photos. Just the “cloud”... for now. “Kiddie porn only”... for now.

But that’s not applicable to this thread.

A more tangible problem to storing important info ”only” on your phone, is if you Lose your phone, or it gets wet or otherwise suffers an “untimely demise”. Sure you can rely on a back-up from a computer...

Pros and cons to every choice.

2 is 1, and 1 is none, and all that.

    Everything is a compromise.

The other day I forgot the combination for my safe. I don’t mean the numbers that open the door. I have all my long guns in socks so I pack them in pretty tight. I took most of them out looking for some magazines and when I put them back in, I wound up with a shotgun that I could not fit. Maybe tomorrow I will play Tetris a while and try to figure out the combo
Take a picture when you've figured it out. Maybe consider color coded gun socks

Changed the battery. Same deal. I entered the correct code as I do every day and it wouldn't open. Entered it about 10 times then the alarm. I hope it was just a glitch. It's been 12hrs. Maybe it has a reset. If the alarm is still buzzing I'm going to beat it with a hammer.

I was warned about the electronic ones long time ago. Only one I've ever owned that was electronic was a table top model... with a key. Just in case.

I wouldn't buy that cheap stuff that has that electronic override keys and the batteries inside...but that is just me.

most of the major brands of electronic locks are Made In China

For me, I store anything I need to remember in a password manager, like safe combos. I personally use Roboform but there are others and have for 20+ years. It has a "notes" feature where you can store anything. It is encrypted and cannot be decrypted by the company or anyone else without my master password and is synced to my phone.

While I store most things there I still do not store SSN or anything I consider super sensitive. I've worked in software long enough to know nothing is truly secure. Like security or beware of dog signs in the yard, we only make it more difficult so bad people move on to someone easier.

Best piece of advice I got when shopping for a safe was to determine what size you think you would ever need and then double it :) .

Murf, I have gotten to where I lay them out in order of removal; front left to front right, and working toward the back. Revere it to replace. Helps I have my safe in bedroom so bed is where they are laid.

Write it into a phone number and put it into your wallet under a fictitious name.

I had a Cannon safe with the digital keypad and it failed. Went through all the trouble shooting and nothing. I knew the correct combo and I went at it for over a week. Cannon decided to send a locksmith out to drill it. I decided to try it one more time and it finally opened a 3 days before the locksmith was scheduled. Left the safe unlocked and had the locksmith change out with a S&G combo dial. I have had no problems since.

My old Browning safe started out life with a S&G dial combination lock. About 10yrs ago I installed a S&G keypad lock. Easy DIY switch.
