But the IRS will take everything that you own and put you in jail if you do not pay. In this case their might makes them right. Income tax only becomes illegal if the scotus says so.

Very good article once me told me how to bring the federal government to a screeching halt. For all you people who like to pay your taxes just wait to pay your income tax until when it's due in april, and not until april. Quit giving the feds an interest free loan. The whole socialist system falls apart overnight if everybody would do this. Wars end. Military comes home. FEMA, NATO, UN, etc all falls to pieces and comes home. Welfare ends, across the board. Billions of dollars in international goodwill ends. Unfortunately, so does the VA and military retirement and social security. Is what it is... but hey, think of the greater good when socialism dies. And your Fed income taxes would still get paid. Once in april, instead of fifty two times a year

Bonus is that the big chunk of income tax is earning you money on interest in your own savings account all year until April. Instead of getting nothing for it by giving it away interest free... 52 times a year

Government is often defined by its ability to tax and it certainly is not a socialistic device. If it is socialism than all of the kings, conquerors, and rulers were socialists. Taxes are basically tribute that is paid to the powerful.

Nope. Plenty of other taxes besides federal income tax have paid and will continue to pay for plenty of other functions of government... federal, state and local. Federal income tax is a relatively new 20th century thing, and it is not a coincidence that it came with widespread rampant socialism, hegemony and a well funded standing military 10 times bigger than our nearest competitor. Example: the new $120,000,000,000 Ford class aircraft carrier. Absolutely outdated technology and thoroughly unneccessary

''Your first statement nope''. I never mentioned income tax for the post that you responded too. I said taxes. I also doubt that income taxes are anything new. A serf in the middle age paid a percent of his crop and also had to give labor. I would call that an income tax. Now for US income tax I believe was WWI when it came to be as it is now.
But whether it is an income tax or not, it is still a tax. An income tax is just a mechanism for fleecing the people. It is tribute and you pay it or else.
Certainly lots of other taxes and who said that there were not other taxes. My biggest bill now that I am retired is my property and now services taxes. We are all getting reamed big time by a fire protection tax this year in my part of FL. The local sterling fibers plants is getting a $100,000 plus billing for fire protection.
