I need to purchase a decent safe for my rifle and shotgun.

    Things to note:
    (1) - At the most I may purchase one more rifle (Ruger 10/22) so I do not need excessive storage.
    (2) - I'm on a budget. As much as I'd love to spring for a $1000+ safe I just simply can't afford it nor would I have the room for it in my tiny apt. With that said the safe does not need to be fireproof. Its sole purpose is to prevent theft.

While surfing the web I came across the SentrySafe Home Defense Center HDC11E (http://www.sentrysafe.com/Products/4...Defense_Center)

Also provided below is a link to a YouTube video that gives instructions on how to fit multiple weapons/shotguns into the HDC11E.

    I'm particularly attracted to the HDC11E's small size (54.4in x 11.1in x 12in) and "pry-resistant door".

Also, although this safe is extremely light (112 lb) I'm thinking bolting it to the wall with it's included bolt-down kit should resolve that shortcoming.

It retails for $350 - $450 depending on what vendor you use.

Does anyone have experience with this product?

Any input, opinions and feedback would be appreciated as I'm considering purchasing this product with my tax refund.

    Thanks

Have you ever considered on like this. I have a safe, but I also have one of these in the back of one closet.

    Just another, cheaper option.

That looks good however I don't like how a key is required.
In the event of a burglary and/or home invasion I don't want to have to look for keys.

what would keep a thief from simply disassembling the guns in the rack and taking them or parts of them??

I'm in the same situation you are whereas I need something for several rifles, a few hand guns, and some ammo, but don't have room in this small house. I'm looking to move to something larger, and plan of getting a full size safe then then. For now, a couple of the things I've looked at are:

    1. This under the bed type of gun vault: http://www.amsecusa.com/Defense_Vault/

    2. This in-the-wall type: http://tacticalwalls.com/shop/series-1450-concealment-cover-and-insert-bundle/

This video isn't really pertinent to what you're looking for, but it is an excellent tutorial on what to look for in a full size gun safe.

Just another option, but I suspect most burglars are opportunist, in and out fast. Plus I have mine mounted so it is hidden behind hanging clothes.

I keep one out, I would be in trouble if I had to get into my safe in a hurry.

My wife bought me this safe for Christmas for $299, http://www.tractorsupply.com/winchester-reg-gun-safe-10-gun-capacity-1028410

She didn't know that I was planning on buying a fullsize safe after Christmas, so now this one is in our bedroom & I have my big safe in my man room. It says it will hold 10 guns, but you don't want to put more that 4 or 5 maybe in it. It's not fireproof, but gets the job done if you just want to lock them up. It comes with bolts to bolt it to floor/wall.

I looked at that one on-line and it looked pretty good, but I'm wondering how hard would it be to pry the door open. Also could you fit three AR-15's and three convectional style rifles in there? It's about the only one I've found so far that will fit in the space I have for it.
