They're all in clear protective covers, before Dad died he sent me 20 of them
Mostly Morgan's but also the 1924 Peace silver dollar that got his collection started
The 24 Peace is the one that is in the worst shape but even it is in a cover

Caveman is 100% correct, do not try to clean any coin, ever. Things to look for right off the bat are any CC mint marked Morgans or a 1921 Medusa (Peace). Both carry considerable value even if not pristine condition. Morgan mint marks are on the reverse. If you'd like PM me dates and mints and I can look them up for you.

disclaimer....once you know the value, if the coin is such a common mintage that it is silver value only, then by all means....clean the crap out of them....

baking soda, see you tube for cleaning silver safely, it is involves alum foil too I think

No corrosion, these were his babies, he kept them all in their own little protective sleeve and no one was allowed to handle them out of the sleeve. He mostly bought uncirculated coins but if he found one he liked he would buy it if it was in almost perfect condition. The one he found while doing site work in what use to be the outskirts of Seattle in 1968 is the one that is in the worst shape. Dad was more faithful to his coin collection than he was to any woman he was ever with as he screwed around on every girlfriend, wife and mistress he ever had but he didn't screw around when it came to his coins.

Is there a good book for the care and cleaning of coins if they need them? I also received a sizable coin collection from my father when he passed and don't worry, not planning to clean any without professional advice first from someone I trust. Now that hunting season is over I'm going to start creating an inventory of them. Great thread, nice to see others with an interest in coins.

youtube will have videos, telling how to safely clean the coins..after you make sure there is not a numismatic value, above the price of the silver or gold.

kitco.com is a precious metals site, has charts, live prices, historical prices, and a forum..I am a member there also, same handle as here.

Basically, the amount of processed ore remained about the same (close to it), while silver production fell by 56%.

The Fresnillo & Saucito Mine’s Combined Average Yield Fell In 2015

As we can see the average yield of these two mines was 14.2 oz/t in 2009, but this declined to 7.9 oz/t in 2015:

By adding the Saucito Mine to offset silver supply losses from the Fresnillo Mine, the overall production cost DOUBLED… LOL.
    ...
The primary silver mining companies that produce more gold than base metals will be the best performing stock prices in the future.

It was a little over $30 for the graded coin. You can find them raw for around $20 depending on the year. I only need the 2013 and 2015 to complete my NGC MS69 set but like you need about 7 or 8 to finish off my raw set. This does not include any of the "special" issues like proofs, burnished, enhanced or reverse enhanced. You'd go broke in a hurry trying to get all those.

The key date in the ASEs is 1996, paid almost a benji for it. The 97 & 98 are a bit pricey too, over $50. Collecting an entire set of coins is not something I ever intended to do but after I became interested in numismatics the urge came. Cost of doing it are ridiculous if you do them in uncirculated condition, which is the only ones I collect.

I started a Roosevelt dime collection to obtain all of the silver ones and it got real expensive quick. The key date, the 49S, is around $50 and the 50 - 53 proofs are rare and thus also expensive. Still need about 20 to complete the set, including a 49S.

The fix is in it should be at $30+ and Gold at $2000+ with debt in the US and the supplemented stock market and a .5% growth rate.
