Went to Santa Rosa today, and possibly for the last time for awhile (job).

Stopped by walmart before hand and decided to try that $10 7.62x51nato rounds made by ZQI, fro, Turkey.

First box was fine. Second box gave me some problems. The loads were inconsistant. I have my gas block at the lowest settings, which cycled consistantly well with the first box, second box, it barely extracted numerous times. The major flaw was that the brass is weak and brittle, so with a tight chamber, my bolt broke off the rim of the casing on two rounds. Fortunately my friends let me use their mosin nagant cleaning rod to pop that sucker out.

As far as shot placement, as i was making the initial zeroing at 25 yards, the shots had a pretty nice group within an inch of each other.

Might be a suitable cheap solution for a standard AR-10, or a non match bolt action rifle.

I, too, went out to the Santa Rosa Shooting Center this morning to test my XM16E1 clone build and to meet up with an old buddy of mine. I was zeroing it at 100 yards. All I had to do was make a small windage adjustment. My buddy was having issues with his AR build we did a while back. It turns out, he had disassembled it and messed up a couple things putting it back together. He also has a fitment problem on another build with the receivers. I got his on the right direction on how to fix both. BTW, I ran into Brad Blanchard and a few others while I was there.

I was going to go to the range... but went to the Air Museum to beat the heat instead.

Love me a P40... sexiest plane to ever fly in my opinion.

Burned 400 rounds in the new AR 9 and once we realized it completely hates Winchester white box it ran like a Singer sewing machine. Clearly im going to have to be building myself 1 now ...

Cool. It's been years and years since I visited the Air Museum. I need to get back there soon.
It's absolutely huge now! They opened up another hanger, with more modern planes and helos, from '74 to '06... lots of info on the older full auto machine guns from the early 1900s too. I love that place.

went to SRSC and busted off some rounds. Brought out the AR pistol, RECCE-ish rifle, AK, and xdm. Left my damn AK mags and ammo at home..>DOH!!! Frustrating, haha. Finished with the rifles and was gonna shoot pistols at SRSC but buddy that was with me owns 20acres in Diamond Creek and suggested we go shoot pistols on his property. Good stuff

Sorry I did not recognize you right off. I was more concerned about getting home for lunch.

So I finally got out to the range today for the first time in awhile. I had been laid up once again, this time for another MRSA infection. Was hospitalized for 8 days when it took off from the armpit where it started into my pectoral muscle. It's now only about 27mm long and 12mm deep. A lot better than what it was. I'm starting to feel a lot better. The heat killed me though today. Not acclimated to it, since I had been in AC since June 13 when it all started. I have been on 2 cycles of Septra DS, one of doxycycline(which turned out to be resistant by the MRSA), one cycle of Clyndamycin and 5grams of Vancomycin(yes 5 grams). So tomorrow I go back to the Infectious Disease specialist to find the results to if I'm a carrier of MRSA which I think I already know the answer. Still not 100% yet, but I have cabin fever like crazy.

    Crazy shit......

Sorry to hear about all your problems Doc. What will all this do to what you do at work? Kind of hard to dive if you can't get into the pool or teach.
