What is a good Starter 1911?

I took a chance years back and picked up a used Metro Arms American Classic II from a local guy off AR15.com

That pistol, for being inexpensive, shoots fantastic, eats anything I feed it, and the trigger is every bit as good as my pre CZ Dan Wesson Patriot Expert Target and my Springfield Loaded SS Target.

I think they are still available.

I had one in Commander size and it was FANTASTIC!!! Loved it, but sold it to a friend when the police found my EAA Witness and returned it to me.. Bastards ket my mag though!

I get the email blasts from Grab-A-Gun and today's featured an American Tactical Imports FX45 1911 for $349 (+$5.99 shipping). I don't know anything about ATI but that's definitely in the "Starter 1911" pricing category...
