I got to the range to zero my rifle yesterday and discovered my trigger had gone binary. It turns out that the set screws had come loose sometime in the last 15 months of non-use and of course I didn't have the right size allen wrench to fix it at the range. The good news is that the gun is still zeroed.

Is that one of those velocity triggers?

Yep. I thought it was bump firing, but it turns out it was firing on the pull and the release. I didn't notice the trigger was loose in the receiver until I separated the upper and lower.

Did you put any kind of thread locker on them set screws ??
I put a extremely small amount of clear fingernail polish on mine and they are still tight. They are sooooooo damned tiney,I was affraid to apply too much torque to them. --- SAWMAN

The instructions that came with the trigger said not to put thread locker on them. I think I may use some clear fingernail poiish, because I don't want them backing out again.

Reccomend that you just don't let it get down thru the hole . . . below the threads. I put the fingernail polish on the screw only, before insertion in the hole, with the tip of a toothpick. --- SAWMAN

Actually, I looked at the Velocity installation instructions online just now. It says that there is supposed to be another set screw that goes on top of the the bottom one, locking it in place. I'll don't recall mine having additional screws in the package. I'll have to check when I get home.

I assumed that your unit had the "on top" set screws.
To be clear . . . those are what I put the nail polish on. --- SAWMAN

Ah! Cosmetic stuff. Just keep in mind that too much mass removed can alter function and you'll never get your money back out of the mods. But if all you need is to make it look cool to make you happy, there's nothing wrong with that.
For the cost and resale (i know, i know) I'd probably buy a new slide already tacticooled from zev or wherever, but that's just me.

Haha yeah tacticool. I plan on not selling this firearm and keeping it. Might look into zev or Suarez. I seen they make slides as well but not selling right now.

I've always liked the look of the dragonfly with a gold barrel, but I hear it makes it snappy.
I just figure by the time you cut and paint, you're close to a whole new slide.
