I would love to know what you are loading for your Swede. I have a 1942 M38 in pristine condition I am starting to load and cast for.

Lyman 266469, BNH alloy of 15 (Lyman #2 or Hardball alloy hardness), sized .266", 15.5gr 2400, CCI 200 primer, 2.96" oal, lubed with NRA formula 50/50. No bore leading.

In testing the 6.5 Swede, if the bullet went too fast, the groups opened up. For example: With the M38 at 17gr 2400 the groups were 3 times bigger than with 16.5gr or less of 2400. I started with 15gr 2400 and went up 0.5gr at a time to find an accurate load. Often in bottle neck rifle cartridges, somewhere 15.5 - 16 gr 2400 is the sweet spot. My 2 best loads that I retried the next day were 15.5 and 16 of 2400. Shooting more groups, I determined that 15.5 was it. I suppose I could try varying it by 0.1gr up and down to really fine tune it, but those iron sights and my vision is the limiting factor for me. No filler is needed with 2400. Mild loads; I don't like much recoil. I keep the brass fired in each bolt gun separate, and only need to neck size. Brass lasts a long time.

For the Swede, I don't need to expand the case mouth (with a Lee or Lyman expander) like I need to do for the Swiss and 30/06 for cast bullets. I do inside chamfer the case mouth; part of the gas check fits into the chamfer and no lead is scraped when seating the cast bullet. Gotta make sure the bullet is standing straight when you go to seat it.

While I'm "hunkering down" and social distancing, today I cast another 8 1/2 pounds of rifle bullets. Got a good deal on some lead ingots from an estate at 10 cents a pound. Best I could tell, it was old melted clip on wheel weights. Add some linotype in a ratio of 1lb linotype to 2lb ingots and I get my Lyman #2 in hardness and weight.

I am loading both the 266469 and the RCBS 6.5-140. Had been playing with IMR4227 and Unique with what little testing I have done. I've been spending most of my time working with the 303 Brit.

Went and toured an undisclosed secret facility for about 6 hours would have stayed longer but had to head home on the bikes and wanted to get out of the woods before nightfall.. My wife and I recieved expert instruction on precision shooting ;-)

    20200318_150605.jpg

She was then able to hit a 3 inch gong @300 2/2. Due to the wind, I was only 1/2........;-) damm wind! (or something) Ruger precision rifle in 6.5.

Set the dot on my looter shooter.

Had a fantastic time. We both enjoyed it very much and look forward to next time. Thanks JJ.

Do any semi auto .22 Rifles run sub sonic ammo or do I have to go bolt action. I just want a cheap 22 to run subs and standard velocity to plink with...

Now you just sold the sig and ill bet it was for more than 320. :) You can pick up a used 15-22 for $200 if you look around! Semi auto, AR controls, 25rd and 10 rd mags, threaded barrel. Push the pin tip it forward pull the bolt to clean. If I get up to JJ's again I'll bring mine and you can shoot it up.

I still have 2 6.8's and thousands of rds of ammo and a X39 pistol build, I do need more ammo for the X39

Keeping the essentials just did not need a 223 and 200 rds of ammo. Damn the rifles and ammo are going for higher prices again!
