It will keep you out of certain divisions, yes. I'm pretty sure stippling is not allowed in SSP and only certain parts can be stippled in Production.

I just looked up the rules, so let me clarify:

In IDPA SSP: You are not allowed to checker or stipple any "non-readily replaceable parts of the grip frame." I take that to mean you can stipple replaceable backstraps and such, but not a serialized grip/frame. (http://members.idpa.com/Content/Rules/x2gukat1.wyt.pdf, Rule 8.2.1.4.9)

In USPSA Production: You may stipple, but only certain parts of the gun. See Apendix D, Rule 21.4 and also Appendix E4 (http://www.uspsa.org/document_library/rules/2014/Feb 2014 Handgun Rules.pdf)

    Grip tape is your friend.

Got my stuff ready to take out to the range. Think I'll take the chance on it raining more. Really want to go and and try cutting cards, have never tried and it looks fun to do.

I've never done it with a pistol. I need to try that the next time I go out there as well.

I have a .22 pistol I borrowed from my brother in law to try it with. Watched some of those videos of that .22plinkster guy on YouTube and have the need to cut a card with a .22 now haha.

I trimmed a lot of fat off at 15yds but I couldn't get a clean cut.
I tried a couple mags at 25 for fun and had expected results.
It was a lot of fun though, and I haven't shot a .22 pistol in a long time and that was fun in itself.

Hey, Some of us old fogeys did it at jj at ten yards. You guys can do it. Hint, Make SURE you are lined up square with the card or you only catch part of it. That cutting just half the card is because you weren't square.
