I've booked an overnight hunt at the place in Century and have been studying up on prepping the hog after the kill. however, no matter how much I read, I know that some of you guys probably have much better information and don't trust what I'm reading.

Anyone care to share their take on the subject?

    Thanks in advance.

SBR, most outfitters clean and quarter the hog for you. Basically, you skin, gut and quarter just like any animal.

Lok on youtube... search cleaning wild hog... great videos, I watched a few and did just fine doing it myself... I use a box cutter to remove hide, and a sharp knife.... a hack saw or works good for removing feet and head... have large tub underneath to catch blood and guts... good luck... I am going to the farm to shoot some wild hog thig weekend....

The farm provides a hang station, gloves and a saw. The rest is DIY.

Yep...saw a few vids and it'll be no problem.

    Thanks.

SBR, I use tools that make it a lot easier, one is a sharp limb lopper to take the legs off and cut through the pelvis.

Here are the rest of my kit:

Dang! That makes me feel a little inadequate. All I've got is a 10 inch SOG tanto, a spyderco pocketknife and a box cutter!

    I'm gonna need more tools!

Yeah my new loppers are made for game, or anything else!

SBR, the Sheffield blue is cheap and I use the linoleum hook blades to cut the skin and gutting. The orange Havalon is a surgical replaceable blade for under the skin and meat. The gerber utility blade for any of it. The hook blade hunting knife for around bones and the large knife takes the head off easily. Hardly ever use the bone saw. I believe in being prepared.
